🏡 So, What Is STA?
Short Term Accommodation, including respite, is a temporary, supportive stay away from home. Funded by the NDIS, STA is more than just a change of scenery—it’s a chance to grow, build confidence, and experience new things in a safe, structured, and fun environment.
Whether it’s for a weekend, a few days during the holidays, or part of a longer-term plan, STA gives participants and families the space to recharge.
👋 Who Can Access STA?
STA is for NDIS participants who:
Need a break from their usual environment or routine
Want to develop independent living skills
Are working toward greater social and community participation
May benefit from practicing things like teamwork, responsibility, and managing day-to-day tasks in a supported setting
Families and carers also benefit. STA provides peace of mind knowing their loved ones are in good hands—and gives them a chance to rest and reset.
🎉 What Happens During a Specialcise STA?
At the end of a big week, our STA weekends are packed with fun, purpose, and real-world experiences! Depending on the group and goals, our participants might:
Cook and share meals with friends
Head out to local Gold Coast attractions
Practice budgeting, shopping, and personal care routines
Play games, go to the beach, or have themed social nights
We keep things flexible, person-centred, and fun—because building independence shouldn’t be boring!
